Cuttack: Prabina Mohanty, wife of legendary playback singer and music director of Odisha Akshaya Mohanty, breathed her last at SCB Medical College and Hospital here last night. She was 74 at the time of death.
Prabina, who reported chest pain at around 10.30 pm at her home ‘Bichitravama’ located in Sheikh Bazar area of the Millenium City due to a cardiac arrest was immediately rushed to SCB Medical by family members. She passed away under treatment after few minutes.
Eminent personalities from all walks of life including those from Odia movie fraternity visited the late singer’s house and paid their last respect to the departed soul.
Born in 1946 in Jagatsinghpur district, Prabina completed her school education from Ravenshaw Girls High School, Cuttack. She tied the knot with late Akshaya, popularly known as ‘Khoka Bhai’ in 1967.
Prabina is survived by her two sons Mitrabhanu and Chitrabhunu, and three daughters Shrilekha, Shreeya and Priya.
