Late Kalpana Dash’s body brought to Base Camp-II in Nepal Himalayas

Bhubaneswar: The mortal remain of late Odia woman mountaineer Kalapana Dash has been successfully brought to the Base Camp-II in Nepal Himalayas, as per reliable sources.

Earlier, the Odisha Government had been informed by the Nepal authorities that, Sherpas, a tribe engaged to assist mountaineers, were about to retrieve the body to Base Camp-IV. They had also assured that soon after completion of required official procedure at Lukla, to where the body was to be airlifted from the Base Camp, it would be flown to Nepalese capital Kathmandu.

Kalpana who scaled Mt Everest on 2008 was killed in her fourth attempt on May 23 this year. She was trying to climb the mountain peak along with Kanchimaya Tamang of Nepal and Liyamu Ma of China when the mishap took place.

Meanwhile, Odisha Government has a three-member team to bring Kalpana’s body to her native place.
