Bhanjanagar: The fear of the ‘mysterious animal’ has gripped Bhanjanagar area in Ganjam district after Niali, Jagatsinghpur and Mahakalpada with the death of 12 sheep at Badapathar village on Saturday night.
The villagers claimed that the incident is similar to the Niali incident as the wild animal has torn open the abdomens of the lambs and eaten the livers only.
Forest officials have reached the spot and are studying the paw marks of the blood-sucking unknown animal found near the place where the sheep were killed last night.
The incident has left the locals to be in a state of terror as they are well aware of the wild animal that has unleashed fear in Niali area of Cuttack district by killing more than 100 sheep in the last two months.
