Khordha: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday apprehended the Junior Engineer of Begunia block in Khordha district while demanding and accepting a bribe.
The Junior Engineer has been identified as Sanghamitra Sahoo.
Acting on a tip-off, the Odisha anti-corruption team laid a trap against Sanghamitra while demanding and accepting cash of Rs.5,000/- from a Complainant at her office for facilitating the release of his bills.
The entire bribe money of Rs 5,000/- has been recovered and seized from the exclusive possession of accused Sanghamitra.
A case has been registered in this connection with Bhubaneswar Vigilance under section 7 of The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway against Limaraj.
