Khandagiri Mela in capital city will not be held this year too

Bhubaneswar: The Khandagiri Mela 2022 will not be held this year, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner on Saturday.

Reportedly, the civic body informed that the Magha Saptami Mela (Khandagiri Mela) will not be held for this year also in view of the prevailing COVID situation.

BMC Additional Commissioner also informed that jatra may also be canceled this year.

The annual fair in Khandagiri was also not held last year citing possible violation of COVID-19 guidelines at the event.

Notably, Odisha today reported 4,842 fresh cases of Covid including 1,253 cases from Khordha, followed by Cuttackin in the last 24 hours. Besides, 15 more COVID-19 deaths were reported today. This is the highest number of deaths confirmed on a single day after an audit since the third wave hit Odisha earlier this month.
