KALIA raths flagged off by CM Naveen Patnaik

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off twenty KALIA raths from his residence on Saturday. KALIA rath is for creating awareness for the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.

The raths started their one-month long journey from Naveen Niwas, the residence of CM Naveen Patnaik.

A total of 150 KALIA raths will be on a state-wide tour for a month. These specialized vehicles are fitted with audio and visual facilities whose main purpose is to aware Odia denizens of KALIA scheme’s benefits.

While the KALIA scheme was launched on December 21, 2018; there has been some confusion regarding who will be the beneficiaries and how far the farmers can benefit from Naveen-led government’s most benevolent scheme for farmers.

KALIA rath will help the farmer know how to apply for this scheme, how they will be paid, and what other benefits this scheme provides, said Cooperative Society Secretary Krishnan Kumar.

All small and marginal farmers, as well as landless agriculture household of the state, will be covered under the KALIA scheme, which is worth over Rs 10,000 crore.
