Jeypore Murder: Son of slain elderly couple held after confession
Jeypore: Solving the elderly couple murder case which took place in Jayanagar area under Jeypore of Koraput district within 24 hours of its occurrence, police arrested their son yesterday.
The accused, identified as Latif Rahaman was taken into custody after he confessed to the crime during interrogation earlier on Sunday.
During his questioning by police the accused informed that he committed the heinous crime just to avenge a dispute which had occurred over partition of property. Rahaman also admitted that he tried to give the murder the shape of a suicide.
Informing on the arrest, Jeypore SDPO Sagarika Nath who led one of the police teams which probed the case said, some property documents, jewelleries, a drilling machine, iron rod and Rs 50000 in cash was also seized from the possession of the accused.
Notably, the victim couple, retired police Sub Inspector MK Rahman and his wife Hafiza Bibi was found dead at their Jayanagar house on March 9, morning. Police formed two teams to investigate the case on the same day.
