Jagatsinghpur BJD leaders seeks Damodar Rout’s suspension

Bhubaneswar: Jagatsinghpur BJD leaders on Monday met BJD President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and sought veteran party leader Damodar Rout’s suspension from the party.

Led by BJD’s Jagatsinghpur district president Bishnu Das a team of the party leaders including Balikuda-Erasama MLA Prashant Muduli met Patnaik at his residence here this evening and submitted a memorandum demanding Rout’s dismissal alleging his anti-party activities.

Besides, they urged the BJD supremo to take disciplinary action against the former Odisha Agriculture Minister.

Bishnu Das alleged that Damodar Rout has supported arrested Bapu Parida, a close aide of arrested gangster Sayed Usman Ali alias Tito.

Notably, the special task force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch had arrested Parida on charges of extortion and issuing murder threats on July 28 this year.

Naveen had earlier on December 22, 2017 had removed Rout from the Council of Ministers over his several controversial remarks.
