In-laws arrested over woman’s mysterious death in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law of a woman were arrested over her death last week in the Airfield of the State Capital city.

Airfield police reportedly arrested deceased woman Priyanka Mishra’s father-in-law Pradeep Dash and his wife Sanjulata Dash and daughter Etisri Dash today and forwarded them to the court.

Cops booked the trio under sections 498-A/313/304-B/302/34 IPC/4 DP Act and forwarded them to the court after arresting them based on the complaint registered by Priyanka’s family members.

Earlier, Priyanka’s husband Suraj Das was arrested by the police on charges of murder.

Deceased Priyanka Mishra was married to accused Suraj on July 14, 2021 as per Hindu custom and rites. But the groom’s family were not happy with the dowry amount and started torturing deceased for demand of additional dowry.

On November 6, brother-in-law of complaint received phone from the mother-in-law of deceased regarding death of deceased by hanging from the roof of her house through her chuni. Later, she was shifted to Capital Hospital and where doctor declared her received dead.

Airfield police conducted inquest and Post mortem was conducted by a team of doctors to ascertain her cause of death.

While Priyanka’s father-in-law Pradeep Das had alleged that she committed suicide and had extra-marital affairs, her father claimed that she was murdered.

In course of investigation, cops arrested the accused four people.
