Illegal saw mill raided in Sambalpur, huge cache of wood seized

Sambalpur: Launching a crackdown on illegal timber traders in the district, Sambalpur Vigilance officials on Friday raided an unauthorised saw mill in Bareipali area in the district and seized huge cache of wood from the spot.

As per the report, a joint team of 24 personnel including members of Sambalpur Vigilance wing, mobile teams of both division and circle level and local police took part in the raid after getting a tip-off on the presence of the illegal saw mill at Bareipali, very close to a truck association parking ground.

While the staffs of the mill managed to escape from the spot getting information on the raid beforehand, the officials seized timber worth over 1 lakh from the mill.

Wood cutting machinery, tools and other ancillary items used in the saw milling were also seized from the illegal set up during the raid and were seized.

Efforts are on to nab the absconding operator of the raided mill.
