Illegal possession of government land to draw compensation: Orissa High Court

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has ordered for the collection of compensation from those who have already taken the payment for claiming government land. The high court has given this verdict in connection with Cuttack CDA land dispute case. It has also dismissed all cases of land ownership and compensation.

Reportedly, 112 acres of land in Cuttack Bidyadharpur mouza was forged.

Earlier in 1963, this land belonging to the Bidyadharpur mouza in Cuttack was taken over by the government under Estate Abolition Act. However, the land was sold in several parts. The government had decided to acquire the land for Abhinav Bidanasi projects in CDA.

Thereafter, some government employees and some land owners took all compensation under the Land Acquisition Act,1894 while others filed a lawsuit at high court for the increase in amount of compensation.

Today, the High Court ordered the recovery of money from all those who were been hastily compensated.
