Hostel Warden Arrested For Thrashing Students In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri police today arrested a warden of a city-based private college for brutally thrashing students for scoring poor marks. A video of the assault by the warden identified as Biswaranjan Rana has gone on social media.

Police today arrested Rana after the principal of the private college lodged a formal police complaint.

“Rana was arrested under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341(punishment for wrongful restraint) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal code and section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act. He has been forwarded to the court,’ said a police official.

In the video, Rana was found thrashing students for scoring less marks. The college authorities too have suspended Rana after the video surfaced.
