One Saubhagya Jena of Naragoda under the Tamando Police Station limits in Bhubaneswar filed a case against the couple.
In his allegation, Jena claimed that Nishikanta had demanded Rs 3.60 lakh from him to help his wife get jobs at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Out of Rs 3.60 lakh, Jena had paid Rs 1.6 lakh through PhonePe and Rs 2 lakh in cash as Nishikanta assured him the job saying that he is in touch with different Ministers.
However, Irani Patra and Nishikanta Patra issued threats to Jena after he asked them about the job. The couple also threatened Jena to file a false case against him.
With this fresh case, the number of complaint lodged against Irani Patra and Nishikanta Patra rose to four as three cases were already filed against them earlier.
Meanwhile, the Tamando Police Station IIC S.K. Jena informed that they have decided to apply to take Nishikanta Patra on a five-day remand to question him over the honey trapping and blackmailing racket they were running.
The mobile phones of the accused will be sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) and their call detail record (CDR) will be verified, said the police officer.
It is to be noted here that the Patra couple along with two others Ganesh aka Manoranjan Pradhan and Girija alias Saktikant Harichandan were arrested by the Tamando police on September 11 after a doctor filed complaint against them.
