Heatwave across Odisha throws life out of gear

Bhubaneswar: Heatwave will continue across the state for four more days, predicted Regional Meteorological Department on Sunday.

Worst affected is the Western Odisha as intense heatwave conditions persisted with the mercury hovering about 40 degree Celsius in 13 places.

Odisha’s hottest place Titlagarh, topped the list for the second consecutive day today with 46.5 degree Celsius. Yesterday it recorded 44.2 degree Celsius.

While Bolangir recorded 46.3 degree Celsius, coal town Talcher recorded 45.7, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur had 45.2 degree Celsius.

The other towns became boiling pots were Angul (40.2), Sonepur (44.8), Hirakud (45.2), Sundergarh (43), Jharsuguda (45.2), Sambalpur (45.2) and Chandbali (40.2).

The Regional Meteorological Department has advised denizens to stay inside during the peak hours.
