Elderly woman dies after sustaining burn injuries during bonfire in Deogarh

Deogarh: An elderly woman has died after sustaining severe burn injuries during a bonfire at Lainda village in Deogarh district.

Reportedly, the elderly woman was sitting near a bonfire amid the bone-chilling winter across the State. Thereafter, her saree caught fire accidentally and she was unaware about it.

Her family members immediately managed to douse the flames off her saree and rushed her to Tileibani health centre. However, she had already sustained severe burn injuries by the time she was taken to hospital.

Later she lost her life while undergoing treatment. The identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, police have initiated a probe into the matter.
