Direct Flights to Mumbai and Banglore from Jharsuguda soon

Jharsuguda: Industrial town of Jharsuguda will be soon connected to Mumbai and Banglore through direct flights, said Sudesh Kumar Chouhan director of Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda today.

Chouhan made the announcement during a press conference marking the completion of one month of operation of budget carrier SpiceJet from the industrial town.

As per information, the airport handled as many as 9850 domestic passengers in one month. SpiceJet had started operation from the airport from March 31 and had introduced flights to Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

The flight between Jharsuguda and Delhi has witnessed 95 percent occupancy while the flight to Hyderabad recorded occupancy of 70 percent. However, the flight to Kolkata has been less lucrative.

Airport authorities said that they have already discussed the matter with higher officials to reschedule the timings of the Jharsuguda-Kolkata flight.
