Decomposed Elephant Carcass Found Again In Karlapat WildLife Sanctuary,Toll Reaches 7

Kalahandi: One more elephant was found dead in the Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary in Kalahandi district taking the death toll to seven within a gap of 20 days.

A decomposed carcass of an elephant calf was found at Ghusuriguda under the sanctuary limits.

While a three member central expert team from Delhi visited the places on Saturday and had confirmed haemorrhagic septicaemia as the reason of elephants death.

The Central team that visited the sites on Saturday and said that high stress level in the body of the pregnant elephant has led to the spread of septicaemia.

Earlier, six female elephants died of the bacteria infection within a span of two weeks.
