Cyclone Fani: Odisha Govt appeals private schools to waive off fees

Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha on Monday appealed to all private-run educational institutions to consider waiving off school fees of the students for one month in five districts, which have been severely affected by the severe cyclonic storm Fani.

The five districts include Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara.

The State Government has already waived off the school fees and examination fees of the students  in Government schools up to high school level in the cyclone-hit areas.

The Government has also decided to provide two extra pairs of uniform in extremely affected areas and one extra pair in the severely affected areas to the children up to Elementary School Level.

On May 3, the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani made landfall near Puri coast, causing huge damage to infrastructure and livelihood in 14 coastal districts in the state.

Official sources said, around 1.65 core people in 14 districts have been affected by the disaster. Lakhs of students have lost their books, study materials and uniform.
