CM Naveen extends Food Security Scheme in Odisha for 5 years

In a major decision, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended the State Food Security Scheme in Odisha for another five years.

Bhubaneswar: In a major decision, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended the State Food Security Scheme in Odisha for another five years.

The State government is providing 5 kg of rice per month for free to 9,97,055 members of 3,14,923 families under the State Food Security Scheme.

The State Food Security Scheme in Odisha, which was launched in 2008, was ending this month. However, with the extension of five more years, the beneficiaries will the benefits till December 31, 2028.

With the extension of the Food Security Scheme for five more years, the Odisha government will bear an additional burden of Rs 250 crore per year and Rs 1,250 crore for five years.
