Sonepur: In a tragic incident, three persons lost their lives while seven others sustained critical injuries after a car hit an autorickshaw on NH-57 in Balangir- Sonepur on Tuesday.
Reportedly, the auto was en-route from Balangir to Sonepur for selling vegetables was hit by an Ertiga car. The auto driver was in conversation with a bike rider on the roadside when the car collided with the three-wheeler.
As a result, three out of eight vegetable traders in the autorickshaw lost their lives on the spot while others sustained critical injuries. Likewise, the bike rider has also sustained injuries.
All the deceased people have been identified to be residents of Raghpalli area of Balangir district. All the injured persons have been admitted to District Headquarter Hospital (DHH), Sonepur.
On getting the information, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter. It has been suspected that the driver has fled from the accident spot.
Notably, a police uniform having one Snigdha Rani Suna name written on it has been found inside the vehicle.
