Balasore: In a major success Sahadevkhunta Police today seized brown sugar weighing around one kilogram in the area this evening.
Police said that the market value of the seized contraband will be Rs 1 crore. Police have detained three persons including Sheikh Haider and are further interrogating them.
“ Haider has been peddling brown sugar for years in the state. He was one among the key peddlers in the state. We are further interrogating him to nab his associates,” said a police official.
Police said that the root of the peddling racket in Odisha originates from Balasore and adjoining areas. “The banned contraband is mostly smuggled into Odisha from states such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal,” said the police official.
