Brajrajnagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced Radharani Panda as its candidate for the bypoll to Brajrajnagar Assembly Constituency in Jharsuguda district.
Earlier in 2014, Radharani Panda was elected to the assembly from the Brajrajnagar Assembly Constituencyon BJP ticket.
In 2019 polls, She has lost general elections from BJD’s Kishore Kumar Mohanty.
However, the ruling BJD and Congress has not declared the party’s candidate for the by-poll.
The by-elections to the Brajrajnagar Assembly seat will be held on May 31. The last date for filing of nomination papers is on May 11 while scrutiny will be conducted on May 12. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is May 17. The counting of votes and declaration of results is scheduled for June 3.
The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of sitting BJD MLA from Brajrajnagar on December 30, 2021 due to cardiac arrest.
