Bogies detached from Puri-Shiridi Express near Delang, passengers safe

Puri: Hundreds of passengers had a close shave after bogies of Puri-Shiridi Express suffered a detachment from engine near Delang Railway Station here last night.

The incident took place a few minutes after the Puri-SainagarShiridi (18408) train left the Jatni Station at around 10 am. After running for few kilometres, the S4 and S5 coaches of the train got detached from the engine near Delang Railway Station while changing tracks.

While the detachment took place following breakage of a coupling hook, the engineless coaches rolled around 100 meters before being spotted.

Railway officials immediately swung into action and took necessary steps to repair the train which brought the traffic flow to a grinding halt on Delang-Pipili route for an hour.

After repairing the train resumed its journey towards the destination later.
