Black jacket gang of looters arrested in Bhubaneswar, details here

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested the infamous Black jacket gang of looters in Bhubaneswar on Monday, said reports.

Investigating into a series of gold chain snatching cases occurred in day / evening hour by a particular gang wearing black jacket and using different motor cycles Commissionerate Police BBSR successfully nabbed a four members gang putting an end to the crime done by them.

The gang was operating especially in Saheed Nagar, Nayapalli, Kharvel Nagar, Capital, Mancheswar, Badagad and Pahal police station area.

The Modus Operandi and area of operation:

All the above accused persons hail from Nayagarh Distrcts and staying at different Basti areas of Bhubaneswar. They are having a particular and unique mode of operation and notoriously famous as “Black Jacket” gang and were active fir last six months.

They wear full black jackets and pant and use motorcycles to commit crime and tamper the number plates by scratching the digits and also applying adhesive tapes on number plate. They used three numbers of motor cycles i.e one Red Hunk, One black MT 15 and one KTM bike for commission of snatching.

They target gold chains of lady commuters on road and within a moment absconds from the spot after snatching. After crime they put the gold chains in mortgage in different financing agencies such as Manapuram Gold Loan, IIFL, Muthoot Fincorp, Indel money and shared the amount among them. They have created a number of loan accounts in financing agencies in their name so also in the name of their mother and wife.

They repeat the same process within a time difference of 10 to 15 days. In the present case they were arrested from Bhubaneswar. In recent past they were active for last Six Months in the city and it was difficult to identify them as they wear cladding full dress and helmet to conceal their identity. Observing the crime pattern, their movement, area of operation, CCTV records, vehicle used the gang could be detected with recovery of snatched gold chains.

Prior to the arrest of this gold chain snatching gang Bhubaneswar Police has also arrested infamous Irani Gang, Bawariya Gang, Chandan Jena Gang, Ranjana Pradhan and Ali Ajam gang in this year. Seized at least 10 numbers of motor cycles used for crime and more than 100 snatched gold chains weighing about 1200 Grams of gold belong to victims to this crime. All the gold chains are kept in zima of the owners. It is also worthy to intimate that members of Irani Gang has already been convicted in Four cases and the trial of Bawariya Gang members and Ranjan Pradhan is going on.

4. Tiki @ Sarbeswar Gochayat (28), S/o- Madhab Gochayat, At/Pr- Natugaon, PS- Itamati, Dist- Nayagarh.

Article Seized:
1. 30 Numbers of gold chain weighing about 400 Grams gold.
2. Three numbers of speed bikes.
3. Two Numbers of Black colour jacket.
4. Documents regarding loan against the snatched gold chains.

Cases Involved:
They are involved in nine of Sahidnagar PS cases, three each of Nayapalli and Capital PS cases with other PS cases also.
