Bhubaneswar: The BJP has expressed displeasure at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik holding a conference of the Special Development Council of 9 tribal-dominated districts via video-conferencing at the State Secretariat on Tuesday.
Attending the conference, the Chief Minister is expected to inaugurate new projects at Gajapati, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayubhanj, Nabarangpur, Sundergarh and Rayagada.
However, accusing the Chief Minister of misusing his powers, BJP Spokesperson Pitambar Acharya said as per Article 244 of the Indian Constitution, it is the responsibility of the Governor to decide the nature of implementation of welfare programmes for socio-economic development of the tribal communities of the state.
Exhorting Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal to stop the conference, Acharya said CM Naveen is attending the tribal development conference to reap political gains in the upcoming elections.
