Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen its rural base, the ruling BJD has come up with a plan to organise football and cricket tournaments from panchayat to the district level in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.
The cricket tournament will be played between MLA XI and Mayurbhanj XI. The final match will be held at Baripada Stadium. The winning team will get a whopping Rs 1 lakh cash prize and the runners-up will go away with Rs 50,000.
This is the first time Mayurbhanj has been witnessing such a sports event. The tournament has been organised by the Youth and Students wings of the BJD.
This sports event is expected to give a good platform to the budding talents to prove their mettle and get selected to represent the district, state, and country.
