Bank Manager shot at in Odisha

Titilagarh: Three unidentified miscreants shot at the manager of Utkal Gramya Bank in Bijepur of Balangir district this afternoon.

The bank manager, who sustained bullet injuries on his abdomen, has been identified as Kailash Dora. He has been admitted to Titlagarh hospital in a critical condition.

Speaking about the incident, Dora said, “Three men were waiting to meet me as it was a lunch break. Taking the advantage of the absence of any male persons in the bank, they came rushing towards me as soon as I finished my food. They asked me to sanction some loan. However, I denied them as they did not match the criteria.”

“Then when they asked me to open an account in their names, I said them the account can be opened only between 10 am to 2 pm and it is already time for us for other works. I asked them to come some other day so that I could help them in opening the account. But, they asked me a form needed to open the account in the bank. As I gave them the form, one of them caught hold of my head from the back while another fired at me and the three fled the spot before anyone noticed them,” he added.

Police arrived on the spot and started an investigation into the matter. However, they are yet to know whether the manager was shot at over personal enmity or bank robbery.
