Malkangiri: Vigilance sleuths today arrested an Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Tax & GST department in Malkangiri while taking Rs 10000 bribe from a businessman.
The accused has been identified as Ajay Kumar Mallick a Senior Odisha Finance Service (OFS) officer.
Vigilance officials said that Mallick had demanded the bribe from one Manoj Kumar Debanath, proprietor of M/S Bholanath Bastralaya in Malkangiri to reactivate his registration certificate.
Later a search operation was conducted at his office chamber and residential quarter as well. Vigilance officials said that further investigation in the case is continuing.
