Bhubaneswar: Special DG of Police, Training, and Director of Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA) Arun Kumar Sarangi today took the additional charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha.

The 1990-batch IPS officer took the additional charge as Odisha DGP from Sunil Bansal, who retired from the post and government service today.

“It is a matter of pride that Odisha police has achieved remarkable success in different ways mostly in anti-Maoist operation, crime and cybercrime investigation. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has always extended his help and cooperation in strengthening the police force of the State,” Sarangi said soon after taking over the charge.

“Besides, the department recruited over 5000 people. Thus the manpower has increased. Though it was a challenge to provide them training but we did it. The strength of the police would increase with their joining,” he added.

“With the helps and cooperation of the officers I shall carry out my responsibilities with integrity. I will focus on law and order, crime control and investigation, and quality policing for the people and I hope the police fraternity would cooperate with me during my service period,” he said.
