Bhubaneswar: More than 10 armed miscreants have looted cash and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from a couple in the capital city of Odisha. The armed robbery took place in the Bhotapada area under Mancheswar police limits.
The victims have been identified as Dinabandhu Das and his wife.
Reportedly, the armed miscreants broke into the couple’s house late last night at 2 am and tied them along with their daughter with a rope. Thereafter, the miscreants attacked Das’s wife with an iron rod by keeping him at a gunpoint.
Following the attack, they looted Rs 3 lakh cash along with gold ornaments worth Rs 30 lakhs from their house.
Soon after the robbers fled away from the spot, the couple managed to untangle themselves and immediately informed the local police.
On getting the information, the local police arrived at the spot and initiated a probe into the matter to apprehend the robbers.
