Actor turned MP Anubhav Mohanty receives decree of divorce, shares news on social media

Cuttack: In the latest development, Ollywood actor-turned-MP Anubhav Mohanty has received his decree of divorce after a long wait. The actor took his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to share the piece of news.

In the post, he wrote, “Thanks all who prayed for me & my family’s peace. Got my decree of divorce today, which is just a day before the completion of 10 worthless/meaningless/heartless/painful & above all, false marital years of my false marriage! I pray for her happiness. No Offence.”

Earlier on December 21, 2023, the Orissa High Court had granted him permission to divorce actress wife Varsha Priyadarshini, rejecting the ruling of the Cuttack Family Court. On September 22, 2023, the Family Court had rejected the divorce petition filed by Anubhav.

On October 17, 2023, Anubhav Mohanty moved the High Court, challenging the verdict of the Family court.

Anubhav Mohanty’s plea was reviewed by Orissa High Court judges Justice Arindam Sinha and Justice Shiv Shankar Mishra. They had also instructed the Cuttack Family Court to reconsider its decision and also issue a decree of divorce, as requested.

Meanwhile, actress Varsha Priyadarshini had filed a petition at the Cuttack Family Court to allow the couple to live together during the divorce proceedings. However, this petition was rejected by the Court as well.

Back in the year 2020, actor Anubhav Mohanty had filed for divorce from wife Varsha Priyadarshini at the Delhi Patiala house family court. Varsha Priyadarshini had approached the Supreme Court to transfer the case to the Orissa High Court. As per the instructions of the Supreme Court, the case was transferred to Cuttack Family Court.
