Anganwadi worker sent to quarantine centre in Odisha’s Gajapati for Lockdown violation

Gajapati: An Anganwadi worker has been quarantined in Gajapati district of Odisha for violation of lock down norms.

The Anganwadi worker named Savita Patnaik from R.Sitapur village had visited Tekkali village in Andhra Pradesh to attend her sick mother a week ago. During her return she was intercepted by the police at Damunigaon check post .

Tekkali village is located 32 kms from the border of Odisha. Savita walked 8 kms from her village and then took a lift from a truck-driver to reach Tekkali village. 

After staying in the village for a couple of days, she was asked by Andhra Pradesh officials to return to her native place.  On her return journey she rode as pillion with her brother on a bike.

The brother sister duo crossed Andhra Pradesh border and reached Odisha only to be stopped at Damunigaon Checkpost by Police. Getting tip off from Police, Paralekhamundi Tehsildar reached the checkpoint and interrogated Savita about her visit to the neighbouring state and later was sent to a quarantine centre.
