7 women among 9 migrant labourers rescued in Balangir

Balangir: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal labour traffickers, police rescued at least nine persons including a few women from Kantabanji Railway Station in Balangir district while being sent to neighbouring states last night.

The rescued labourers have been identified as residents of Juba village of Belpara police limits.

Acting upon a tip-off a team of Kantabanji Police carried out the raid at the railway station late in the night. During the raid, the victim labourers including seven women and two men were found waiting for a train to travel to Warangal of Andhra Pradesh to be engaged at different places.

While the agent who had gathered the victims to later send to the neighbouring state has managed to escape from the spot, police are trying to trace him.
