39 more Indian Cobra hatchlings rescued in two places in Odisha

Kendrapara/Bhadrak: Snake catchers rescued 39 more Indian Cobra hatchlings from Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts of Odisha today.

According to reports, some locals of Narilo village under Chakrada gram panchayat of Kendrapara district noticed an Indian Cobra hatchling on the wall of the house of one Ranjit Swain yesterday.

Swain then informed the snake helpline members who went to the village and rescued 20 Indian Cobra hatchlings by demolishing the wall today. Prafulla Swain, a snake catcher, informed that rescue operation is still on as there is possibility that there may be more snakes in the wall.

In the second such incident, 19 more Indian Cobra hatchlings were rescued and 21 eggs were recovered from a house in Nalanga village under Gelapur panchayat in Bhadrak district.

Notably, around 130 snakes from two separate places – Shyampur village and Kantabania village of Bhadrak district were rescued couple of days ago.

Snake helpline officials had also rescued 12 Indian Cobra hatchlings from Suhagpur village under Pipili police limits of Puri district yesterday.
