2019 Polls: Survey Predicts BJD Going To Retain Power In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: According to a pre-poll survey conducted by India TV and CNX, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is going to retain power in Odisha, winning 100 out of the 147 seats. The survey forecasted 31 seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and 9 seats for the Congress in the state.

The survey further revealed that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will manage to get a thin majority with 275 seats- only 3 seats more than the magic mark, in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The saffron party’s seat tally may fall from present 282 to 230 seats, 42 short of the midway mark of 272 in the 543-seat Lok Sabha, the survey said.

The NDA’s tally has been placed at 275, with the BJP winning 230 seats, Shiv Sena 13, AIADMK 10, JD(U) 9, Akali Dal 2, PMK 2, LJP 3, while the rest of the seats would be bagged by other regional and smaller parties.

Coming to the UPA, the Congress may win 97, DMK 16, RJD 8, TDP 7, and the rest by other regional and smaller parties, bringing the UPA’s tally to 126 seats.

Noteworthy, the survey was conducted between March 24 and 31 in all the 543 parliamentary constituencies in the country. The total respondents were 65,160 which included 34,272 males and 30,888 females.
