2019 Election: Shipra Mallick decides to withdraw her nomination papers

Bhubaneswar: After holding a discussion with Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence Naveen Niwas here today, senior leader Shipra Mallick informed that she will withdraw her nomination which she filed as an independent candidate from Kendrapara Assembly constituency for the forthcoming election.

Mallick also announced her support to BJD candidate Sashi Bhusan Behera, the senior MLA-cum-incumbent Finance Minister of Odisha.

“I had the interest to contest from Kendrapara Assembly seat, but I have always stated to abide by our party supremo’s decision. And honouring his direction, I’ve decided to withdraw my nomination unconditionally,” she said while speaking to the reporters after meeting Patnaik.

“Sashi Bhai will be the MLA there, but I’ll work for the people of my area,” she added.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Sipra had filed her nomination as an Independent candidate after the conch party fielded Sashi Bhusan as its candidate for Kendrapara assembly seat from where Sipra had won on a BJD ticket in 2009.
