2 dreaded criminals injured in police encounter in Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur

Aska/Paradip: Continuing crackdown on history-sheeters in the State Odisha Police arrested at least two criminals in separate encounters which took place in Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur districts today.

In the first encounter, a team of Aska Police rushed to Charimile square on Aska-Balipadar Road at around 5 AM in the wee hours following a tip-off on the presence of dreaded criminal Guruprasad Swain. After cops tried to intercept the criminal who was spotted with an aide namely Kalu Biswal, they opened fire at police team in a bid to escape.

As police retaliated with firing Guruprasad sustained bullet injury on his leg and was caught. He was rushed to Aska Medical for treatment. However, Kalu managed to escape from the spot during the gun battle.

Police also seized one mouser, two live bullets and a bike from the possession of the held criminal from the spot.

In a similar incident, Kujang Police conducted a raid on the hideout of dreaded criminal Bikram Pal alias Don located near Kankardia road in Jagatsinghpur district today morning. Don sustained bullet injury on both legs in an encounter which broke out later as he fired at cops to flee.

Don has been admitted to SCB Medical in Cuttack after the encounter.

Don had 40 criminal cases pending against him at different police stations in the district, said police.
