12 houses gutted, assets worth lakhs lost in Puri village fire
Puri: At least 12 houses were gutted and properties worth lakhs were lost in a massive fire which broke out in Panchupala village under Delanga tehsil in Puri district last night.
As per the report, smokes started billowing out of a local’s late in the night while everybody were asleep in the village. Till the family woke up to launch firefighting efforts on their own the spark had turned into a massive fire engulfing at least 11 other houses in the neighbourhood.
Valuable items including furniture, electronic goods and paddy kept in the houses of the victim families were completely reduced to ashes in the mishap.
The flames were brought under control only after fire brigade teams from Delanga rushed to the spot later in the day and joined the firefighting.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the locals have demanded suitable compensation for the families which have been rendered homeless in the incident.
