World Kickboxing Championship: Kashmiri girl wins Gold Medal in U-14 Category

Kashmir: A 13-year-old kickboxer Tajamul Islam from north Kashmir’s Bandipora ‘s district has won gold medal in under 14 age category after defeating Argentina’s Lalina in final bout in World Kickboxing Championship held at Cairo, Egypt.

The world Kickboxing competition took place from October 18-24.

Islam was born in Tarkpora, a remote village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Islam played four bouts in the event of which she fought against two players from Egypt, while her third and fourth bout was with France and Argetina

The kick boxers from around the globe were participating in the event, including 30 players from India in various age/weight categories.

Islam has already won gold at World Kickboxing Championship held at Andria, Italy in 2016. She was barely eight years old.  She has also won gold medals at district; state, national and international level kickboxing competitions in the sub-junior category.

Islam is a student of 7th standard in Army Goodwill School in Bandipora and she is also ambassador of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme.
