When Virat Kohli spoke about turning vegetarian, clip from older interview surfaces online

In 2018, it was revealed that Virat Kohli turned vegetarian. He even spoke about it in an interview with Kevin Pietersen.

Virat Kohli, the renowned Indian cricketer, has established himself not only as a cricketing maestro but also a symbol of fitness and athleticism. Kohli’s dedication to physical fitness is widely acknowledged, setting standard for sportspersons globally.

Virat Kohli’s emphasis on physical fitness extends beyond personal practice; he actively promotes a healthy lifestyle. His commitment to a rigorous training, strict diet, and overall well-being is an inspiration to many aspiring athletes.

Back in the year 2018, Virat Kohli made it to the headlines after it was revealed that the cricketer turned vegetarian. Kohli had even spoken about it in an interview with former England batsman Kevin Pietersen over an Instagram Live in 2020.

When Pitersen asked about the reason behind the shift, Kohli revealed that it was due to a health reason.

Virat Kohli shared that he experienced a cervical spine issue during a test match. He shared that his spine had developed bulges, causing compression of a nerve running to his right little finger. This caused him immense pain.

In the interview, he was even seen recalling the time when we was unable to sleep in one position for 10-15 minutes due to the pain. He further shared about undergoing tests which revealed high acidity levels in his stomach, leading to elevated uric acid. He said that the tests revealed how the excess acidity prompted his stomach to draw calcium from his bones, thus weakening them.

Virat Kohli finally revealed that to address this health concern, he made his decision to completely eliminate meat from his diet, turning vegetarian. This was in order to reduce the uric acid levels in his body. Kohli expressed that this dietary change significantly improved his overall health.

A clip from this interview was shared on Instagram some days back. The video was shared by the Instagram handle, @editzzbynixx. Take a look at the video clip here:
