As the cricket world anticipates the upcoming ICC World Cup, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma dismisses any dwelling on past triumphs, emphasizing the team’s unwavering focus on the present.

In response to questions about the team’s mindset regarding past World Cup victories, Captain Rohit Sharma remarked, “Half of the guys were not even born when we won our first World Cup (1983), and then when we won our second World Cup (2011), half of the guys were not even playing the game.”

“For us, the current crop of players are very much into what can happen today. I don’t see them talking about how we won the last World Cup or the first. The focus is on how they can get better and what the things they need to improve are. The focus is always on the present,” Sharma added.

Sharma’s comments reflect a deliberate effort to keep the team’s mindset grounded in the present, avoiding complacency or distraction stemming from past successes. With a blend of experienced players and rising talents, the Indian cricket team aims to approach each match with a fresh perspective and an eye on the challenges and opportunities of the current tournament.

As India prepares for crucial encounters in the World Cup, Sharma’s words highlight the team’s determination to create new chapters of success rather than resting on the laurels of yesteryears.
