In anticipation of World Cup Semifinal of IND vs NZ at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Lockie Ferguson expressed his excitement.

In anticipation of the highly-awaited World Cup Semifinal on November 15 against India at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson expressed his excitement. Downplaying the significance of their 2019 World Cup victory over India, Ferguson emphasized that history doesn’t count for much, and it’s all about the performance on the given day.

“What happened four years ago was a spectacular game, but it’s history now, and lot of cricket has been played since then. Both teams are raring to go, and we’ll see how it goes,” said Ferguson during a press interaction in Mumbai.

Expressing his enthusiasm about playing at Wankhede, Ferguson said, “It’s obviously a great pleasure to be here and pretty excited to play at the Wankhede. Few games here that were held had some spectacular crowds, and it would be great to experience that.”

New Zealand, with a solid record in ICC tournaments and ODI World Cups, maintains a grounded approach. Ferguson highlighted their team unity, emphasizing the importance of sticking to the process.

“Certainly, we have played some very good cricket along the way, and there are times when we have had some bad luck as well. It doesn’t matter now as we are in the knockouts, and we have to play well on that day,” he stated.

Despite the absence of in-form Matt Henry, Ferguson expressed confidence in the team, with Tim Southee stepping in. He acknowledged Southee’s experience and expressed regret over Henry’s untimely exit from the tournament.

Ferguson also praised the formidable Indian pace attack, singling out Bumrah’s return to form after an injury break. He acknowledged the strength of all four teams in the knockout stages.
