New Delhi: India’s leading shot putter Manpreet Kaur has failed a dope test after testing positive for DMBA dimethylybutylamine. The national record holder had failed the test conducted by National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) between June 1 to 4 during the Federation Cup.
Kaur, who had won gold in the recently concluded 22nd Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar will have to appear for a hearing, but is unlikely to be put under provisional suspension now. Though the athlete is likely to participate in the World Championships in London, she might be stripped of her AAC Gold medal if her urine sample B also tests positive.
The substance is a stimulant and a similar case had surfaced prior to the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in which the athletes had finally participated.
