PV Sindhu storms into badminton women’s single final in Asian Games

 

Jakarta: India’s star shuttler PV Sindhu on Monday stormed into the women’s singles final by defeating Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the semifinals at the 18th Asian Games here in Indonesia.

The World No. 3 Sindhu beat the World No. 2 Yamaguchi 21-17, 15-21, 21-10.

Sindhu also became the first Indian player to enter the single’s final assuring at least a Silver medal to the country. She will now face World No 1 Chines Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying in a Gold rush tomorrow.

Earlier on the day, top shuttler Saina Nehwal settled for a Bronze in the same event today.

The World Number 10 Saina took home the bronze after losing her women’s singles semifinals in straight sets 17-21, 14-21 to the World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei.
