Bhubaneswar: With a view to foster a healthy spirit of competition and improving the aspiration level of the Diploma Students of all Government and Private Polytechnics in Odisha, the State Level Sports and Cultural Meet “Poly Fest-2019” began at the iconic Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday.
The two-day long Poly Fest, organized by Directorate of Technical Education and Training under the SD&TE Department, Govt of Odisha, was declared ‘Open’ by Vishal Kumar Dev, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department, Tourism Department along with CEO, OSDA and Director, Directorate of Employment, RajeshPravakar Patil, Additional Secretary, SD&TE Department Sudarshan Panda and other senior officers.
The event is the first of its kind in the polytechnic ecosystem in the country.
Speaking on the occasion Vishal Dev said, the objective of conducting the Poly Fest is to expose trainer and trainees to competitive spirit and teamwork. The event aims to attract the attention of society and intelligentsia toward skills, he added.
Dev also highlighted the State Governments’ effort to provide opportunity and platform to the youth of Odisha to showcase their talent apart from competency building.
The meet will host 862 participants including 274 female participants from all 33 Government and 56 Private Diploma Institutes participating in different categories of sports and cultural events.
The students of 89 institutes from across the state from 6 zones namely Cuttack, Balasore, Berhampur, Rourkela, Khurda & Puri participated in the Fest.
ITI Fest will be inaugurated on 26th February at the Kalinga Stadium here, official sources said.
