Melbourne Test: Australia trail by 435 Runs at Stumps on Day 2

Melbourne: Australia were eight for no loss at stumps on the second day of the third Test against India here at the MCG on Thursday.

Marcus Harris and Aaron Finch were unbeaten on five and three respectively by the end of the day’s play.

Earlier, India had declared their first innings at 443 for seven.

Cheteshwar Pujara scored a classical 319-ball 106, while skipper Virat Kohli (82), opener Mayank Agarwal (76) and middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma (63*) contributed with a fifty.

For Australia, PJ Cummins took three wickets, while MA Starc scalped two wickets. JR Hazlewood and NM Lyon shared one wicket each.

The four match series is currently levelled at 1-1. India had won the first game at Adelaide by 31 runs. The Aussies bounced back with a 146-run win in the second Test at Perth.
