India wins Gold in 25-metre pistol, silver in 50-metre rifle 3p team event in Asian Games
India made a strong start on day 4 of the Asian Games by securing a gold and silver medal in 25-metre pistol and 50-metre rifle 3-position.
Hangzhou: India made a strong start on day 4 of the Asian Games 2023 by winning a gold and silver medal in the women’s 25-metre pistol team event and the 50-metre rifle 3-position team event.
The trio of 25-metre pistols consists of Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan.
The Indian team in the 50-metre rifle 3-position team consists of Ashi Chouksey, Manini Kaushik, and Sift Kaur Samra.
The Indian squad clinched the silver medal with a combined score of 1764, showcasing their exceptional shooting skills. However, the gold medal went to China, who managed the edge with a total of 1773, and South Korea secured the bronze with a score of 1756.
In addition to their team success, Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksey secured spots in the final of the 50-metre rifle position women’s event.
Sift Kaur achieved a score of 594 with 28 inner 10s, while Ashi Couksey posted an impressive score of 590 with 27 inner 10s.
However, Manini Kaushik narrowly missed out on the final event, finishing in 18th place in the qualification round with a score of 580-28x.
This remarkable achievement marks India’s 15th medal at the Asian Games 2023 and their sixth medal in the sport of shooting.
Yesterday, India secured its first gold medal of the day at the Asian Games 2023 in the Equestrian Dressage Team Event. The quartet of Sudipti Hajela, Divyakriti Singh, Hriday Vipul Chheda, and Anush Agarwalla exhibited exceptional performance, triumphing over formidable opponents like China and Hong Kong, China. The team scored a cumulative total of 209.205, claiming the gold medal.
The day commenced with Neha Thakur setting the pace, clinching a silver in sailing, setting the tone for India’s medal quest. Eabad Ali further bolstered the sailing medal tally by securing a bronze.
