Hockey World Cup: Belgium beat Germany 2-1, enter in semifinals

Bhubaneswar: Rio Olympics’ silver medallist Belgium beat Germany 2-1 in the third quarterfinals of the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 at the Kalinga stadium here in Odisha little while ago.

In the thrilling contest, Germany opened their account in the 14th minute as Dieter Linnekogel netted the first goal of the match.

However, Belgium bounced back in 18th minute to level the score 1-1 through  Alexander Hendrickx. The winning goal came from Tom Boon in 50th minute.

Arthur Van Doren of Belgium was adjudged player of the match.

With this win, Belgium will face England in the semifinals of the mega event.
