Techie dies after falling into underground water tank in Hyderabad, watch
A youth was seen in a video falling into an underground water tank at a hostel in Hyderabad in Telangana. The incident reportedly took place at the Anjayya Nagar under Raidurgam Police limits on Sunday. The CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced which has gone viral by now. It is to be noted that the lid or cover of the underground water tank was open when the youth entered into the hostel premises. As seen in the footage the incident took place on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Akmal, a 22 year old software professional.
We can see in the video that the youth is opening the entrance gate of the hostel and walking forward. He is holding something in his hand. As he takes a few steps, he falls into an underground water tank. Soon a man, a woman and a child rush to the spot. The man tries to save the youth by putting a string into the tank but in vain.
It has been reported that the youth accidentally hit his head on the concrete on the ground for which he could not save himself. The youth reportedly died.
X user Surya Reddy posted the video on his handle and wrote in the caption, “A Techie (24) died after fell into a water sump (tank), when the sump cover was opened at his hostel at Anjayya nagar in #Raidurgam ps limits, Hyderabad. Injuries in the head led to the death.” Posted since yesterday the post has already garnered more than 9k views.
After watching the video X users have sought action against the negligence by the hostel owner.
“Safety related issue. The owner is least bothered. He takes it very casual. He must be arrested and property taken by govt. We need Yogi government,” a user wrote in the comment box.
“No panic from pg room owner,” another user commented.
Yet another user commented, “Why do they keep the sump open. There are even little kids who can easily fall into it. Some of the basic safety measures I don’t understand why people tend to not care.”
