World Police and Fire Games 2023: Odisha’s Chinmayee Bhuyan Clinches Double Gold in Karate

Chinmayee Bhuyan from Odisha has won two gold medals in karate at the prestigious World Police and Fire Games 2023.

Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable feat, Chinmayee Bhuyan from Odisha has won two gold medals in karate at the prestigious World Police and Fire Games 2023. The tournament was held  from July 28 to August 6 in Canada.

Chinmayee displayed her exceptional skills in the Women’s Kumite Black Belt category, weighing 60 kilograms and under-18+. Her relentless efforts led her to secure victory in this competitive category, showcasing her prowess as a true karate champion.

The triumphant story continued for Chinmayee as she joined forces with her fellow karate athletes Vaishali Chakravarti, Priya Gurum, and Abha Singh in the Women’s Team Kumite event. Together, they formed an unstoppable team, clinching the gold medal and bringing glory to both their state, Odisha, and the nation.

Her accomplishments mark a historic milestone for the Odisha Police as this is the first time they have claimed a medal in the Karate World Police Games.

Upon her return to Bhubaneswar, Chinmayee received a heartwarming welcome. Her remarkable achievements were celebrated as she was felicitated with a police band at the Bhubaneswar airport.
